So in my previous quickie post, I was talking about how we have limited food choices given the location of our office and the price range of the nearby restaurants. But on this particular payday Friday, we actually went an extra mile to visit one of the popular bakeshops & restaurants in BGC - *drum roll please* - Conti's!
I think it's pretty common knowledge that Conti's Bakeshop and Restaurant is a bit upscale so it's no surprise that a small serving of whatever it is on their menu is sorta pricey. So I'm advising anyone who has an appetite of a hippopotamus not to visit during crucial times, i.e. when stomach is mega empty and last meal eaten was five hours ago.
I'm not going to bitch about the price in relation to the serving size in detail because I don't really want to sound stupid - I know who Conti's' target market is and although I'm not part of it (LOL), I still made the conscious decision to visit it once again last Friday because i was craving for the much-hyped Mango Bravo.
So I'm going to rate the food that I ordered (and have tried before) + description from munchpunch.com.
Fettuccine Carbonara, P215 - ★★★★☆
Fettuccine tossed in a delicate sauce of heavy cream and butter with ham, bacon bits and parmesan cheese |
Kiddie Lasagna, P115 - ★★★☆☆
Wide lasagna noodles layered with bechamel sauce and oregano inspired meat sauce, topped and baked with mixed cheeses |
Spaghetti Marina with Meatballs, P220 - ★★★★☆
Spaghetti with marinara sauce and cream cheese-stuffed meatball served with garlic bread |
Chicken Sausage, P185
Flavorful homemade sausage with caramelized onion served with scrambled egg, toast, mango jam butter and chicken potato salad |
Chicken Pastel, P200 & chicken ballotine, P255
Chicken chunks, carrots and potatoes with mushroom sauce deliciously eaten with flaky crust served with garlic rice |
Mango Bravo Whole Cake (small), P680
Layers of crunchy wafers filled with chocolate mousse, cream and mango cubes |
Despite the fact that Conti's is mej expensive for commoners like me, I still go back every now and then - akala mo naman frequent visitor na :p. Why? It's definitely because of the quality of their food (yuck, medyo cliche hihi). There's really nothing special about how they cook and prepare their food - borderline traditional, actually - but the fact that you can never go wrong with Conti's is what makes me return. Service needs some minor improvements and serving size needs to increase but overall, Conti's Bakeshop and Restaurant deserves the popularity it's enjoying now.
