We continue our foodie adventure around Bonifacio Global City and today's post is about our lunch at Stella Wood Fired Bistro! Quick overview of the food and place - imagine a fancier, pricier, and more upscale version of Kenny Rogers Roasters right at the heart of High Street Central (just across Jamba Juice).
So, let's start! When you place your order, the staff will give you a complimentary garlic bread with a yummy tomato in olive oil and garlic dip. Automatic +1 for this! :)
Wood Fired Cauliflower & Broccoli, Php195
...topped with Malagos pecorino (which is a kind of cheese, according to father Google) and olive oil. The vegetable was fresh and crunchy, but we thought it was a bit dry. I still prefer steamed veggies than wood fired.
Thick Cut Garlic Bread, Php150
...rubbed with garlic confit, butter, fresh herbs and topped with Malagos pecorino. Kasing laki ng kalahati ng mukha ko 'yung bread (which is definitely saying something because I have a BIG, fat face, lels). Like every other bread in existence, Stella's version is very nakakabusog but we still think it's a bit overpriced. Because honestly, no amount of branded cheese or butter can justify the Php150 price tag of this pan de sal!
Whole Rosemary Butter and Bacon Butterfly Chicken, Php495
Mini heart attack sa presyo! But the staff said that the chicken is wrapped in bacon so go na kami! We were already daydreaming about a chicken "dressed" in bacon (sorry for the terrible pun) but alas! It was just a couple of strips on top. Fortunately, the chicken was very tasty but it was also sorta dry. What is up with wood fired food and dryness?
The whole chicken is good for 2-3 people and although it's a bit expensive (katumbas ng dalawang jumbo Andok's), we think it's still heaps better than that bloody Php510-toast box from Crisp on 28th!

So okay, the food in general is neither mind-blowing nor out-of-this-world (don't let the wordy menu items intimidate you!) but Stella isn't stingy when it comes to portion size. What we ate wasn't perfect in my book but at the end of the day, what mattered the most was that Toto and I went home with full tummies. I heard they serve great pizza, so we'll probably try that if we visit again! :D
