Okay, lafang na naman! As usual, sa BGC ulit. And as usual, kasama na naman si Toto. Hindi na kami na-umay sa all day, every day rendezvous namin! ;)
So anyhoo, after a visit to the Wild West, a chill brunch at a retro California bistro, and a delightful discovery of Serbian cuisine, we're ready to rakenrol and go back to our roots! Kanteen BGC, from the same owners of Kuppa Cafe, proved to be just the right place for that - offering delicious Pinoy food that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Inihaw na Liempo, Php195
Two pieces of very tender grilled pork belly for only Php195 in Bonifacio Global City? Nope, it's NOT a dream. And the best thing about it was that it actually tasted good! I think it's marinated in what seemed like chicken oil, something similar to that orange condiment in Mang Inasal.
Lechon Kawali, Php225
We originally wanted to order Lechon Bisaya (Php95 per 100g) but it was out of stock, so we went with Lechon Kawali instead - meat overload, I know! It was crispy and tasted good, too. Or was it because of the Mang Tomas dip? :p Though we really can't say we were blown away because it's just, uh, normal lechon kawali.
Pinakbet, Php135
We've probably tasted a dozen variations of this dish but my favorite is the pakbet Tagalog. Kanteen's version was the bomb, the epitome of how pakbet Tagalog should be cooked (though they specialize in Ilonggo dishes)! Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating, but I really loved how Kanteen perfected the sweet-salty taste that I like in my pinakbet. And the vegetables were well-cooked, too.
Leche Flan, Php55
I know, right?! Only Php55 for a decent serving size of leche flan, and we're not even talking about the size of those delicate-looking shala cakes from Starbucks. And it was also creamy! Alam mo 'yung purong egg yolks ang ginamit, walang halong puti. However, mej sunog 'yung syrup. Pero keribooms na for that price!
But wait, there's more! Steamed rice is only Php25 per cup. That, my friend, is like a miracle in this mini city where one cup can go as high as P60 (why, hello there, Elias). Aaaaaand, iced tea is only Php40 per glass. Pwedeng maiyak sa BGC discovery na 'to?!
So, obviously, we enjoyed our lunch at Kanteen! :D Love the food that we ordered, love the affordability of their items, and love how spacious and neatly designed their restaurant is. We will definitely go back to have that Lechon Bisaya :)
