This is another case of wanted-to-try-a-new-resto-but-ended-up-eating-in-another kind of Sunday. And to be honest, we couldn't care less because we thought it was high time we went back to one of our ultimate, most favoritest, bestest places to eat comfort food - *drum roll please* - Uncle Moe's Shawarma Hub!
We've tried almost everything on their menu since they opened their branch on Malingap St., Teachers Village near UP Diliman last 2011 (or was it 2010??). There was even a time when we got so addicted to Uncle Moe's that Toto and I went almost

everyday just to satisfy our cravings. And to think I was still living in Manila that time! Ganun kalala. Below are what we usually order whenever we visit Uncle Moe's. Highly recommended ★★★★★!!! (Now I sound like that annoying voice over on Home Shopping Network...)
Kebab Platter with Buttered Rice, Php188
Can't choose between chicken or beef kebab? No problem! If you want the best of both worlds, Uncle Moe's offers this kebab platter that has 2 sticks of chicken and 2 pieces of beef served with salsa, with your choice of pita bread (Php173) or buttered rice (Php188). Does not look nor taste like your usual colorful Persian kebab but perfect for your Pinoy taste buds. Alam mo 'yung open naman 'yung mind mo (or mouth, if you'd rather) to other cuisines but may konting resistance from your Pinoy side? This is the perfect meal for your confused soul.
Can't quite describe it, but the kebab is kind of half-steamed and half-grilled. It perfectly matches the salsa and unlimited garlic yogurt sauce - at talaga namang mapapa-extra rice (Php32) ka sa sarap, auntie!

Beef Shawarma rice, Php125
I mentioned before that I generally don't like eating food in a bowl, but this is an exception! You can never go wrong with perfectly marinated bits of tender beef with steamed rice. Some people like their shawarma with Java rice, but for us who want it plain, Uncle Moe's beef shawarma rice is 5 stars levels!
Their branch on Malingap St. has obviously seen better days in terms of its interior and furnishing. Malinis pa rin naman but the chipped paint on the wall is noticeable na. However, I don't think it affects the dining experience of the customers. In fact, it contributes to the low-key vibe of the place -
understated, unflashy and unpretentious ! Another thing I love about Uncle Moe's is that they're not aggressive on social media sites. Actually, their Facebook page hasn't been updated since February 2014 (7 months ago!!). They don't have in-your-face "Please like/follow us on blah, blah" stuff and their no-frills, no-fuss food alone is working wonders for them.
So if you want good quality + affordable sorta-but-not-quite Persian food, you may want to visit an Uncle Moe's Shawarma Hub branch near you :)
Total cost for 2pax: Php408 (with drinks, no service charge!)
